This is a unique project of GnanaShale. It has earmarked 20% of its deposits towards SHG which empowers rural women, through micro-financing. The funds are disbursed to the SHGs under the joint loan liability (JLL) scheme. The repayment is over 98%.
It has supported activities such as tailoring, rope making, bio-degradable plate making and many more.
Women Self Help Groups (WSHG)
WSHGs are voluntary groups of 5 to 10 people formed for socio-economic benefits. It identifies able individuals who perform similar activities to form a group and provides finance to the WSHGs to start / expand their micro-enterprises.
